Four Summer Party Tips That Really Work

Posted by jasnav on June 10, 2010

Hello again everyone! My apologies for being missing for the past couple of weeks. I was busy relocating, and never expected it to be such a harrowing experience.

Well, it’s back to doing what I love best – sharing my experiences and advice with my dear readers.

In my last article we had talked about how to organize a quick summer party to turn heads. In keeping with my promise, here are some more tips to take care of when you plan your summer bash up.

Do Monitor Your Directions

In order to get the best results, do not just hand over the keys to the decorators and expect them to read our mind like a bluetooth. Not only do you have to direct them with precision and accuracy, and you must also supervise their progress. At times you will need to goad them along to finish the theme within your deadline.

Use Your Negotiating Skills

Negotiation doesn’t have to be conflict and confrontation. It is simply a matter of getting your needs met while meeting the interests of the contractors. You need to negotiate with the contractors and ensure that quality work is completed within deadline without upsetting your budget.

Do Carry Out Your Research

Always do your research before spending a big amount. For instance, you can opt for curtains that match the wall colors. If you wish to add more glamour to your room then opt for neutral shade curtains for a classy feel.

Mix and match color combinations work well. If you are planning for a casual look then opt for bright colored curtains. There are reasonably priced curtains in bright colors too like peach dupioni curtains that suit all moods.

Reshuffle Your Assets

Reshuffle quickly the items that you feel would fit comfortably in a new location. If you have an expensive painting, statue or even some crystal decorations, highlight them in a new area.

Instead of showering the dining area with halogen lights, go for chandeliers. Highlighting certain corners and areas will enhance the overall décor of your pad without spending a fortune.

Get going for quick summer parties.

Home Décor: Renovate Your Bedroom With Colorful Traditional Indian Silk Curtains

Posted by jasnav on May 15, 2010

Looking for ways to redecorate your pad without burning a hole in your pocket?
Here are some tried and tested ways to enhance your old bedroom into a ravishing one. Try them out and renovate your bedroom like a king’s bedroom.

Paint Them Bright

Light shades of color may look elegant but sometimes, we need the brightest colors to boost our mood. Paint your bedroom in bright colors like yellow, pink and even red.

You may also paint and highlight one wall of the room depending upon the design of the room. Ensure that you do not end up spending a bomb on the painting. Keep your priorities clear and work accordingly.

There are a variety of paints available in the market. Certain varieties have dual shades like orange and gold. This kind of dual shading works well in the reading area too. It gives a glowing effect to the walls and a beautiful ambience to boot.

Redesign A Portion Of The House

Redesigning could encompass constructing of a new loft and patio. You may also create an illusion of space by demolishing a wall. You can convert a shelf into a loft and stock the unwanted furniture in the loft.

Convert a wall into your very own canvas and paste all your photographs including family and events. It will make the corner an interesting one as people would be curious to have a glance.

You may also enhance the room décor by changing the colors of window panes. Nothing is more exciting than creating a music lounge area in the bed room by keeping unwanted furniture at bay.

If you have musical instruments you could place them in the bedroom to greatly enhance the mood. An aesthetic look teamed with utility works well in the current scenario.

Change The Furnishing

Add glam quotient to your bedroom by making it look cozy. Change the furnishing of the bedroom as it will enhance the look of the freshly painted walls.

Ensure that your curtains are in sync with colors of the wall. You can add new curtains, cushions et al. While picking the curtains, check whether they are transparent or opaque depending on the look you desire.

Thick materials would tend to block the view as well as air circulation. Lighter ones may provide an outside view, yet may not be appropriate if you anticipate peeping toms.

Go for single colored traditional Indian silk curtains with matching valances as they will not jeopardize the décor look. You may also opt for mix and match colors like pastels shades of beige and lilac.

Opt for custom made curtains as it they be apt for the windows. The best things in life are always custom made.

Change The Lighting Style

Change the shading aspect and opt for more bright lights in the TV area. Keep a dim light by the bedside to give a subtle look to the bedroom.

For a playful mood like the coffee table area, you can use handmade cane or Chinese hanging lights. Play with the lights and different shades of traditional Indian silk curtains to reflect your mood.

So get set and renovate your bedroom to impress your family and friends.

What Pochampally Sari To Wear On Your Pre And Post Wedding Functions

Posted by jasnav on May 11, 2010

Sometimes spending a bomb on heavy saris for each wedding occasion shoots up the budget. Make the right choice between high budget, high quality and medium budget, reasonable quality options for different functions of the wedding.

Here are some exclusive options to be worn during the different functions during the wedding. Take it easy is the way to be when it comes to looking and feeling good.

Haldi Function

The haldi function is considered to be the most pious and traditional of all the ceremonies conducted during the wedding. Usually the bride wears a cotton sari in yellow and red combinations.

Times are changing and so are the traditions. Instead of the regular yellow and red border sari, opt for the Drashti pochampally sari in a similar color combination. It is a pure cotton sari available in bright color combinations.

Besides, Devyani and Disha pochampally sarees will be ideal for the occasion as they have subtle yet gorgeous work done on them.

Mehendi

Mehendi ceremony is another occasion where the brideÆs comfort matters the most. Usually, the bride has to wear uncomfortable attire while the professionals are applying mehendi for hours together. Neither can the bride wear gaudy clothes nor completely casual pyjamas.

The ideal option remains the bright Falguni pochampally which is highly ravishing. Besides, the color combinations are equally gorgeous and suit all possible skin complexions.

Sangeet Ceremony

Sangeet is one time when everyone is on the dance floor. The fun and frolic mood should not be barred for the bride. The bride can definitely opt for the classy Geet pochampally silk sari for an elegant look. This will help her in feeling comfortable yet look very classy.

Keep in mind that you drape the sari properly and tuck it tightly to avoid any wardrobe mishaps. For an even more elegant look, do pick up the Dharini pochampally sari.

Cocktail Function

The cocktail party is the one time when conventions and modernism come together. Cocktail party is one informal moment where everyone comes together to raise a toast for the bride.

For the brideÆs look in the cocktail party, it should be neither very traditional nor very informal. You can go for the Gayatri pochampally sari or Fatima pochampally sari. To add to the innovative look, sport a trendy halter neck blouse as it will add the oomph factor as well.

We will not discuss the actual wedding sari here as that has been covered in detail in a complete article elsewhere in this series.

Post Wedding Functions

The post wedding functions are considered to be more on the serious side as the newly-wedded bride is solely involved in the rituals. She needs to perform her household duties as well as perform the rituals at the same time. For her comfort, Dhara and Dimple pochampally sarees are an ideal option. Not only are the colors bright and attractive but are easy to carry too.

The idea is to buy a sari keeping in mind the utility factor too. You cannot just buy a sari to be worn for a single function.

So plan what to wear on your pre and post wedding functions accordingly in order to be comfortable.

Just relax and follow these quick renovation ideas for sprucing up the home. Your friends will not only get impressed but it will also lift up the party mood.

Lights and Lamps Action

Let there be lights all around.

• Brighten up the sitting area by lighting it up with combinations of floating candles and halogen lights.

• Keep the balcony area dim for pals to catch up in heart-to-heart conversation.

• Keep the lights focused on the bar table in the bar area, else mixing the right quality and quantity of liquor may cause problems.

Get a glass top table and add floral decoration. Light candles and place it on the table to enhance the mood. Place floating flowers underneath that level to make it look more colorful.

Cool Furnishing Fundas

Opt for curtains and drapes that match the wall color. If you wish to add more glamour to your room then opt for neutral shade curtains for a classy feel. Mix and match color combinations work well.

If you are planning for a casual look then opt for the bright color cushion covers. These will go well with your bright colored peach dupioni silk curtains to suit all moods.
