Ethnic Gifts Ideas For Foreign Associates and NRIs

Posted by jasnav on November 6, 2009

Professionals associated with India or NRI associates have already done their bit of research about the culture. The best way is to please them is to follow the tradition of treating guests as God. Go through the gift options and impress your associates.

Sweet Wonder

There is nothing as exotic and exclusive like dry fruits sweets. Dry fruit sweets are made up of kaju, anjeer, dates, raisins and even fig. These sweets are low on sweetness too and thus preferred by most.

Since they can be preserved for many days, it is advisable to purchase the sweets from a renowned shop to ensure quality.

Go Along The Spice Route

India has long been known for its aromatic spices. Get custom made spice packs that have all the 27 traditional spices. If you have time in hand then get it from the original destination, Kerela. Alternatively, your nearest general store should be able to help you out.

Ensure all the packets are beautifully gift wrapped with transparent paper and well marked as well.

The colorful view of exotic spices is itself a feast. There is a great demand overseas for fresh spices that are exclusively grown in India.

Traditional Attire

Nothing beats traditional wear clothes like sari, salwar kameez, shawl, kurta et al as an ethnic gift. Gifting the traditional salwar kameez is an excellent option as it will be an innovative yet elegant option.

Go for bright colors like yellow, green, orange and red as it will look gorgeous and typically traditional. You can even skip market hopping for buying corporate gifts and check it out online. For instance, Raw silk and Tussar silk salwar kameez makes a great option to choose from.

Silver Idols

You can also gift made up of oxidized silver as well as of pure silver. It will be slightly on the higher end but nothing beats the sheen of the expensive metals. You can give away small Lord Buddha idols as the universal apostle for peace.

So impress your foreign delegates with ethnic gifts that represent Indian traditions.
