The name given to the Punjabi Salwar Kameez is referred to as the Patiala Salwars and also was earlier famous just in Punjab and northern parts of India and what now Pakistan is. It is considered to be the traditional wear of Punjab, but now you can say that Patiala salwars are the latest trend where even the urban hot chics are into wearing this wonderful attire. They are into trying different designs and fashions making it as exclusive and attractive as any in the world. The popularity of Patiala salwars is spreading far and wide.
The specialty of the Patiala salwars lies with the style and design of the pants which comes in a free flowing pleated fashion with a double bottom circumference. Due to this extra comfort, the person wearing it can have great relief in the thigh area and is great for wearing in all kinds of weather. The pleats bring out the real femininity hidden within a woman by accentuating her figure.
The real beauty of Patiala salwars comes with the chunni or the dupatta which is usually heavily embellished with stones and kundan works to add to its beauty. The kameez comes along with small embroideries in the casual ones to bring in the elegance and simplicity with pleated and designed Patiala and dupatta.
The traditional Patiala comes along with a full sleeve kameez, but with changing traditions nowadays there is no limitation given to the back and front neckline, sleeve length and also the total length of the kameez. With the Patiala salwar, you can feel safe, secured, protected, and comfortable and also trendy as it cover top to bottom of the lady to bring in more style as well as a classic look.
The slit cuts are yet another part given importance as you can find round cuts at the borders instead of the sharp right angle cuts. This also adds to the style of the clothing. With the Patiala salwar, you can feel safe, secured, protected, and comfortable and also trendy as it covers top to bottom of the lady to bring in more style as well as a classic look.

Dear Neetu,
Thanks for your interest.
I tried locating some website that could serve your purpose, but mostly came up with a blank. I did come across a particular webpage where an American gent had made a “Patiala” salwaar for his little daughter, but I do not think that would qualify as an adequate lesson for a serious, adult salwaar maker like you.
Till then, I guess you have no choice but to make that trip to your family tailor to pick up some of the tricks that helps him make those great looking Patialas!

Well, I do not agree with you totally. There are websites like http://www.indianselections.com that allow you the liberty of buying all your patiala requirements online itself.
Then you just need a bit of perseverance and guidance if you are an DIY enthusiast, and you will definitely get your patiala salwaar right.
Of course, if you’d rather not make the effort, a tailor is your best bet!
