The dupatta may also be embroidered, or dyed using different colors and designs.

The designs can be self designs, or colors in different contrasts. The kameez can be printed with a plain salwar, or the whole set including the dupatta can be printed with the same design.
The churidar salwar kameez has the salwar as a tight fitting legging with pleats at the bottom around the ankle, drawing its name from the bangle-like shape of the pleats. This again can be printed or have embroidery done on them to enhance the beauty of the material.
The indo western salwar kameez is a result of globalization which has resulted in the fusion of Indian and western clothing. Here the kameez can have spaghetti straps instead of sleeves or it can be in a short jacket style.
